Terry Stollar

Terry is currently the Director of Admissions and Development for Gutenberg College in Eugene, OR. Gutenberg is a 4-year, classical, Great Books college designed to teach students how develop a biblical worldview. Terry, and his wife Deanna, have been homeschooling their four children, twenty years now. For six years Terry was the local director for the Christian Home Educators Association (CHEA ) of California's San Francisco Bay Area Homeschool Convention. Terry and Deanna were also members of CHEA’s Regional Advisory Board for several years. Their support group in San Jose, CA grew from four families to over one hundred and fifty families in five years. Terry speaks at numerous events and conventions. Terry and Deanna are the founders of CLASH Debate Club of San Jose. CLASH students have won many awards at state tournaments around the country as well as at HSLDA's and NCFCA’s National Tournament. These awards include many of the top team places, three years in a row at Nationals, and numerous top speaker awards. Terry is the founding President and former Executive Director of National Christian Forensics and Communications Association (NCFCA), the organization to which HSLDA handed its debate league. Terry’s and Deanna’s two boys, Chris and Ryan, have traveled extensively across the United States two times with Teresa Moon and her students teachers presenting Public Speaking and Debate Conferences to well over 2000 homeschooled students from Massachusetts to Hawaii. They have also taught at HSLDA’s National Leadership Conference. Their sister, Jackie, joined her brothers’ ranks by qualifying for Nationals three years in a row. Jackie held the record as the youngest debater, at age 12, to qualify for Nationals. Chris, the Stollars’ oldest child (24) graduated from Gutenberg College and earned his Masters in Journalism from the University of Maryland. He is currently a reporter for the Bend Bulletin in Bend, Oregon. Ryan, the Stollars’ second child (22) likewise graduated from Gutenberg College and recently earned his master of arts degree in Eastern Classics at St. John’s College in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Ryan is currently taking a year off from school to pay off some of his loans. Jackie, the third Stollar child (19) is enrolled at Lane Community College pursuing a degree in theater and dance. And Garrett, the child caboose is 10. Garrett is absorbed much of the time in drawing, basketball, and school work.
