As servant leaders of our family, how do we leverage our time, treasures, and talents to create a setting for our children to grow closer to the Lord, nurture their giftings, and prepare them for a life well-lived that honors their creator? Join Forrest Mora, dad of eight, as he unpacks the resources God has given each of us to invest in our family.

“This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased!” were the words spoken by the Father to the Son. “I delight to do Your will” were the words spoken by the Son to the Father. The ultimate Father-Son relationship was characterized by delighting and seeking to delight. Does this characterize your father-son relationship? Drawing from the Word and experiences as both a father and son, Daniel will paint a picture for both fathers and sons of how delighting and seeking to delight can help forge the strongest of father-son bonds.

Forrest shares real-life stories from his experiences over the last 30 years, sometimes laughing at himself and other times challenging everyone in the room. Marriage is hard...in fact, it's real hard! Yet when it is right and good, it can withstand anything. It doesn't matter what the economy does, the status of your bank account, the condition of your home or vehicles, or what your children dish out...because when a husband and wife are right, they're unbeatable. On the flip side, when a husband and wife feel distant or apathetic, it only takes the slightest breeze to ruffle a bunch of feathers. The truth is a mediocre marriage sucks the joy right out of life and your homeschool. The economy can swing up, your checking account can be healthy, your home and vehicles can purr like kittens, the kids can behave like angels, and life still...stinks. That's because marriage matters. Join Todd Wilson, The Familyman, for a time of laughter and encouragement as he shares real-life stories, problems, and frustrations, along with practical, simple solutions to having a marriage that can't be beat!

Dads have it easy. Twenty years ago we used to say, “I’m the principal, and the principal is your pal.” Have times changed? Is education just a series of new chapters in a textbook? Does someone else make your decisions? “I’ve got my job and my hobbies—that keeps me busy enough.” Does your wife agree? Homeschool veteran Dick Karman will take a few minutes to remind us of God’s plan. You will look at your family from a different point of view. Honestly examine what God has to say for you and your house.

The only thing worse in our culture today than the way men view themselves as husbands is the way they view themselves as fathers. Men have no idea how important this role is in the development of their children physically, emotionally, and spiritually. Grasp a bigger vision for a father’s role and its importance in the grand scheme of things. The family is a hub of gospel-centered activity that serves as the foundation upon which the faith of the next generation is built (Deut. 6:6-7; cf. Eph. 6:4).
Jun. 23, 2018
One of the most glaring shortcomings in the home education movement has been the absence of male involvement. This session offers a biblical look at the father's true role in the home and why it is absolutely essential to the successful home education of the children. Dr. Baucham will address several issues including feminism and hyper-patriarchy, which have brought imbalance and disorder into many Christian homes. He will disclose how the gospel addresses these issues for ultimate hope and healing.

We homeschooling parents invest a lot of ourselves in our children. When one of them strays, it is a painful, prayerful time. As one who has wandered himself, and one who has shepherded seven children through sometimes challenging times, Jim has a word of encouragement, reconciliation, and hope for walking through troubled times.

Conflict happens. Anger happens. Siblings fight. Mom and Dad don’t see eye to eye. Feelings get hurt. Things are said that shouldn’t be said, and things are done that shouldn’t be done. We each have different points of views on how life should go. Add the personal character flaws of each family member to the mix, and you’ve got a recipe for calamity. Unchecked anger and unresolved conflict can undo the best of homeschool plans. Teaching your child how to manage anger and conflict far outweighs any school subject. Beth Mora, author, blogger, and homeschool mom tackles real-life tensions that happen behind all of our homeschool doors and offers practical solutions for messy moments.

Come discover how we can reach the heart of our boys and inspire them to embrace this training phase of their lives as they pursue living a life of purpose that, like the knights of old, courageously puts the needs of others before their own. What is holding modern day boys back and how can we move forward by giving boys a vision for their future and honoring their innate love for adventure? The world needs more kind, courageous, and bold men who will lead their families well and make an impact in their world both now and for the rest of their lives. It starts with igniting the imagination, honoring their love for adventure, and casting a vision for the training process.

You want your children to be the best in academics, spirituality, and physical health – well, everything. You also want to have tender relationship with and godly compassion for your children. In striving to lead his wife and eight children to "greatness," however, Brian has found that he can fall into the sin of provoking them. He'll use scripture, experience, and findings from the new “Generation 2” (Gen2) Study to talk about how to combine high expectations with faithfulness, grace, justice, mercy, and kindness. Especially for fathers (but all are welcome).

Life in a post-modern world can be tough for Christians – especially young Christians. When skepticism is the rage and Christ is "so not cool," it's not always easy to express one's faith, much less do so courageously and convincingly. With pressure-relieving simplicity, this session will equip young Christians to stand up, step out, and defend the Christian faith – all without losing their own.

The layers at the Grand Canyon show rapid formation during the global Flood and reveal that it was eroded catastrophically. Many similar formations around the world were also created during the Flood.

How can we train our boys to be strong and godly men – not wasting their lives on video games and TV, but working hard, taking risks, enjoying adventure, and daring to following God wherever He leads? In this session, you’ll be challenged with biblical truth and hard-hitting honesty (from real-life experiences growing up with five brothers on a dairy farm and raising five sons into military service, international business, engineering, and rugged missions). Please note: If you’re easily offended, don’t attend. This session will be spoken with love, yet be direct and straight-forward.
Making the most of their time is the most important skill our children could ever learn. How can we help them begin to do so at an early age? In the process we may launch a new generation of business, church, and community leaders who can embrace their life purpose, set passionate goals, make well-informed plans, and take forceful actions for the glory of God and the good of others.

Mad? Angry? Ticked off? or just frustrated? What ever you call it, it will drive your kids away, divide your marriage, and destroy your home. No one likes living next to a volcano that could erupt at any moment. What are the dangers, the signs, and some Biblical solutions? How does one deal with an angry person and how do I get rid of these feelings that scream at me?
Physical Hunger, Boredom, Loneliness & Meaninglessness are all God-given appetites that hold forth the promise that each one can and should be fulfilled. Within God’s good and wise purposes, each form of hunger is actually our invitation to a feast.

In spite of what the culture is telling us, boys and girls are different. Have you ever had a war breakout in the middle of history, or had a single math lesson take three hours? Then you're probably raising boys! If the world seems intent on gender-bending and forcing our sons into a feminized mold, Hal and Melanie, parents of six boys, explain the biblical way out - and a better way to turn wild little dirt-lovers into strong Christian men!

Many parents begin the Homeschool Journey motivated by a strong desire to nurture deep and enduring relationships with their children. Over time, they realize that winning and keeping their children's hearts requires something more than simply schooling them at home...especially during the teenage years. With stories that will make you laugh and cry, Daniel shares how God, in His great mercy, used two wonderful but imperfect parents to humbly, lovingly and yet courageously train him up in the way he should go, and not depart from it.

Fear can paralyze; it can grip your heart, torment your mind, and hinder you from parenting in God’s joy and purpose. Philippians 4:6 says, “Be anxious for nothing.” Nothing means NO-thing. Not even ONE-thing. Do you fear your own inadequacies (or wonder if your homeschooling is going to mess up your kids for life)? Do you fear teenage rebellion, hormones, high school, or the future? Do you fear not pleasing others, not having finances, or not fulfilling God’s purpose? In this workshop, you’ll be encouraged by God’s faithfulness and love for you, concluding with a time of prayer.
The Flood produced the right conditions for only one Ice Age, which grew and melted in a matter of a few hundred years. A single Ice Age explains extinctions of mammals like the Woolly Mammoth and saber tooth tiger.

Communicating with Teens - Show More
Communication is often hard for people, but it is especially difficult for men and their teenagers. Some fathers lose the hearts of their kids, not because they are not doing the right parenting things, but often because they do not know how to communicate. The talk will cover learning the language of your teenager, girl and guy differences in communication, what things need to be communicated, and a survey of questions that dads can use to start conversations that go deeper into their heart.

Is that word “freedom” for just ol’ graying hippies and revolutionary wannabes? No. It is a biblical concept and at the core of what it means to be an American and, especially, a homeschooler. Dr. Ray will answer: How’d we get our homeschool freedoms? Why should you care? Are we really free? How might we lose this liberty? What are the enemies? Risks? Is Common Core related? What about compulsory attendance laws? Parental rights? Whether your youngest child is pre-born, 7, or 18, you need to know the core principles of educational freedom and why we must strive to keep or expand that liberty. Dr. Ray has been in this practical and theoretical battle for over 30 years.

Linda Lacour Hobar points to recent world history, where there are those who have planted “good seed” and those that have planted “bad.” Linda Lacour Hobar sheds light on The Great Awakening, The Enlightenment, Karl Marx, Charles Darwin, and Billy Graham. These stories will examine a handful of 19th-20th century figures and the wake of their influence on our world today
Gleaning from a 17th-century gem, The Education of a Child from The Wisdom of Fenelon, Mark presents a “radical reversal” of our traditional approach to a biblical education. Commissioned to educate King Louis XIV’s incorrigible grandson to become the next king of France, Francois Fenelon wrote and then lived one of the greatest educational treatises ever written. In fact, in 1802, nearly 150 years later, Fenelon’s work was still revered as the most extraordinary educational work on record. Parenting based on gentleness, mentoring, joy, and patience will be among just a few of the highlights of this seminar.

What should parents do to train their boys to be strong and godly men — not wasting their lives on video games and TV, but working hard, taking risks, enjoying adventure, and daring to follow God wherever He leads? In this session, parents will be challenged with biblical truth and hard-hitting honesty from real-life experiences – growing up with five brothers on a dairy farm and raising five sons into military service, international business, engineering, and rugged missions.

Join Mark as he reveals an unusual passage of Scripture that is rarely preached or talked about. Twice God the Father speaks about His Son—once at His Son’s baptism and then three years later on top of a mountain. The second time He speaks He repeats what He said the first time but adds one significant component that is essential for all parents—“Listen to Him.” Once you learn what this means, you will approach your children with a more purposeful plan that will cultivate their identity, confirm your love, be encouraged by your pleasure in them, and possess the confidence and authority that has been bestowed upon them.

The first two waves of attacks on homeschooling were essentially based on lies. You won’t succeed academically. Your kids won’t be socialized. We proved them wrong twice. The third wave is fundamentally different. It accuses: you will teach your kids that Christianity is the only true religion. This attack is true. Michael Farris examines the newest anti-homeschooling strategy of the legal elites, explains how it will impact us today and tomorrow, and outlines a plan of action.
The Family Discipleship Plan is a practical guide for the comprehensive discipleship of the whole family. Effective discipleship is intentional and touches every aspect of our lives. At the heart of the Family Discipleship Plan is a non- condemning “checklist” that leads parents to be deliberate about the discipleship “plan” they have in place for their children. It is a great family project that offers ownership to each family member in their personal walk with Christ.

What parents don’t want their children to be effective and successful in life? How ironic! That's exactly what God wants for your children, too. But God’s idea of effectiveness and being successful – generational faithfulness – is about much more than mere success, American-style. How do we pursue this path? In achieving God's best, we’ll need to embrace His intentions and priorities. Parents, you have a vital part to play BUT, Young Person, so do you!

Maybe you’re still looking for that perfect “niche.” Paige will share practical tips for helping all personalities succeed as homeschooling parents. Examine areas of struggle, identify strengths, and most importantly, be encouraged that God knew your strengths and weaknesses when He placed your children in your home.

Not many people realize that the historical development of evolutionary ideas were based on philosophical assumptions and shifts, not on scientific discovery. This seminar takes a critical look at this fascinating piece of history.
Jun. 24, 2011
Building and preserving trust between you and your family is the highest priority for homeschool dads.
What is the dad's role in training his children for life? It is assumed that most men know how to be a dad and just need ideas on fine tuning fatherhood. This is a workshop for the majority of men who don't really know what that role looks like. Come and gain confidence and learn the Biblical principles of fatherhood.

In the last chapters of the book of Judges, a rather strange story is told. It is a story of Levites, concubines, dismemberment and revenge. But more than anything, it is a story of Civil War. As homeschoolers in our local church, we can sometimes feel like we are in a battle, but with whom are we fighting? Like the tribes of Israel, are we engaging in civil war? More than anything, the book of Judges is a book about "relationships;" God's relationship with His people, and their relationships with each other. In this session, a home schooling father of 8 and his public-schooling Pastor (with a degree in Education) will discuss how we can avoid civil war and achieve unity.
What do I do with my daughter after high school and before marriage? This is one of the hardest times on daughters. It’s a time of discouragement and questions. "I want to get married, but until someone asks, what to I do with myself?" Do I go to college, do mission work? Most guys have it easy by comparison. They can pursue career, self-employment, school, or a wife, but many girls desire marriage and a family and want to be a homemaker, but they have to wait to be asked. What can parents do to help their daughters through this difficult season?
Jun. 25, 2011
Homeschoolers understand that biblically it is not the responsibility of the Church to teach and disciple our children but the family. However, we sometimes miss the fact that is not the family's job to be the Church. Christ established the local church to be the place of retreat, support and growth for all of His people; even homeschoolers. For various reasons, homeschoolers have historically found their "retreat, support and growth" in "support groups" and other places; not the local church. In this session, a home schooling father of 8 and his public-schooling Pastor (with a degree in Education) will discuss why the local church established by Christ is still the best place for us to find our support, and how we can partner together to seek His Kingdom first.

Nothing is more important to us as parents than to pass our faith and values on to our children. We work hard to home school. We sacrifice. We teach, train, and demand obedience. But many parents are finding out too late that training and winning their child's obedience without winning their heart can end in grief and rebellion. This session will discuss how to read your children to see if you have their hearts, give some dangers that will push their hearts away, and will give practical suggestions on how to win and keep this precious treasure.

Presented by: Oregon Christian Home Education Association NetworkJun. 25, 2010
Rick Boyer and his wife have been home schooling since 1980. Starting out young and green in a time when only a handful of families was home schooling, Rick and Marilyn found few resources to help them in their journey. They had to blaze their own trail, surviving such obstacles as skeptical grandparents, hostile school authorities, unhelpful curriculum publishers, blizzards, Indian attacks&(just kidding). The Boyers are still home schooling today and now share their experiences around the world through their books and their speaking ministry. Rick will share some of the most profound lessons learned along the way, including: -It's not schooling, it's discipleship -Life is the curriculum -The kid is the can -Socialization is for socialists -George Washington survived without Little League -and many more!

Scripture records the stories of several cases of strife between siblings. In almost every case, there is a principle involved which the parents have violated, sowing destruction in their family. This series of case studies gives valuable insight into the causes --- and therefore, the cures - of sibling rivalry.

A particular cell phone commercial features an NBA point guard trying to play basketball blindfolded. Because he can't see the goal, he's never sure whether he's scoring. Too often men in our age take on the tasks of husband, father, shepherd, principal, coach, and disciplinarian without the vision necessary to accomplish the goal. (What is the goal, anyway?) In this seminar we will define the goal and discover the divinely appointed means of achieving it. You may even learn the secret to making your wife deliriously happy, your home a quiet and peaceful kingdom, your children rich beyond measure, and your father-in-law in awe of your great accomplishments. Come join us in our discussion of the homeschool husband and dad.

Sons and daughters are very different to raise and have very different roles to train and target. Raising godly children is strategic. Many young men feel unequipped to face the challenges set before them as a future husband, father, and provider. Daughters also often feel unsure of what it takes to be an effective wife and mother. In this session, 10 trainable qualities will be discussed that young men and women will need to be successful after they leave your nest.

There are plenty of misconceptions about the role of the father in a home schooling family. Some people think that if he can't be at home during "school time" he can't be involved. Others think his job is to take over some of Mom's chores in order to free her to spend more time with the children. But Scripture gives seven functions of a father in a godly home, and each of these can be applied very practically and powerfully in home education. Enjoy the wisdom and humor of this presentation as Rick answers the question of "What's A Dad to Do?"

What is your current role in your family's homeschool? Believe it or not, busy dads can be involved in school too. There are simple things you can do to connect with your children and help de-pressurize your wife's already overloaded day. David introduces interesting, easy, and time effective ways for dads to become active parts in the homeschooling process, without interfering in the work day. Leading devotions, instituting a "Mom's Day Off," guiding the slimy science experiments, reading books aloud, and going to the library, are just a few of the things David will introduce. Homeschooling is hectic but in the truest sense it is eternal discipleship. Learn to stand with your wife side-by-side and watch her sparkle..

Almost every father has heard that he is to lead his family spiritually, physically, and in every other way. However, many fathers will tell you that no one has ever told them how to effectively lead their children, especially in the area of spiritual development. Michael Smith presents encouraging and practical tips to fathers for becoming a helpful participant in the home education program and a leader in the home. He provides insight on the mental and emotional benefits to mothers and children fathers can provide through specific activities, and offers suggestions to men on being more effective as husbands. Mike candidly shares his many failures and a few successes. The session concludes with a list of the six things homeschooling mothers have identified as the primary ways their husbands can be more effective in the family's homeschool program.
Homeschooling is the most powerful form of education rediscovered in the modern age. Its power and success is unquestioned. Yet for most home educators, the principles that worked in home education are not transferred into post-secondary education. Cutting edge visionaries are bringing a Copernican revolution to the method of higher education in the form of mentorship. If our movement takes this next step, we will make far greater impact on the way we do post-secondary education and economics, then we have seen in K-12 education. Based on years of experience with mentoring, Kevin Swanson presents a vision for mentorship applied to both the college and entrepreneurial tracks.

So where do I, as a dad, fit into this homeschooling thing? I have so little time as it is due to my work schedule; should I be expected to teach classes as well? What does God expect of me? Should I feel guilty letting my wife do the teaching? This workshop will explore the various dynamics involved in homeschooling that must be considered when answering the above questions. Yes, the father needs to be intimately involved in the process of homeschooling, but many factors will determine what that looks like. Come let us talk this over and see how you might serve your wife and children.

Most homeschools are run by moms, and dads wind up on the bench or disengaged entirely from the game. What part does dad play, and how does he engage when he is away from his family for long hours out the week? Kevin gives some practical suggestions from his own experience on how dads can get involved and encourage and strengthen the Homeschool vision in their home.

When You Walk By the Way
Presented by: Oregon Christian Home Education Association NetworkJun. 20, 2008
We are losing 75-88% of professing Christian kids by the end of their freshman year in college. In this message, Dr. Baucham explains why, and what the Bible has to say about stemming the tide.
“Out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks.” One only has to listen to find the heart of a child. Once found, it is essential that we don't begin to control, pressure, or manipulate in order to change behavior. Changed behavior must be the result of a changed heart. Anything less leads only to hypocrisy, rebellion. Too often parents depend on rules as the primary enforcer of behavior. Rules can change behavior, but they can't change the heart. When parents begin to see the difference between character flaws and disobedience, applying less pressure and more gentle understanding, children will be more willing to admit fault and seek help from those they love. Children need to hear the beating of our hearts rather than the beating of our voices. Parents will want to join Mark as he relates his experience as a shepherd and the important lesson that you don't become a shepherd just because you own sheep.

Dr. Baucham turns his attention to the Christian home and explains what an "orderly" home should look like. Expounding on the Old Testament text of Deuteronomy 6, Voddie highlights six characteristics of a properly ordered home. Through personal testimony and biblical instruction, Voddie educates and motivates Christian parents to rise to the challenge of changing the world - one household at a time.
